Over the past month, my husband and I have been engaged in choosing names for the two puppies we plan to bring home for Christmas this year. We’ve been taking those names seriously! We want them to roll off our tongues easily, match the personalities and bloodlines of the sweet pups we are expecting from White Raven Bolognese, and we want the dogs to respond happily when they are called. As they will have these names for life, we want them to fit and stick.
While choosing appropriate appellations for our canine companions, I also spent these past few months working with a group of clients on a strategic planning project. They also are chewing on names for their new company and the products they plan to introduce. We want the selected name(s) to be distinctive, easy to recall and appropriate to the product(s). We want each name to give meaning to the product itself; and if possible, we would like the name(s) to communicate a sense of what’s to come.
